im a nurse and have the same problem. Vicks vapor rub does wonders. once you try it you will keep it in stock
I started with the peely fingers and palms a few weeks ago, the bubbling under the skin etc. and it spread.
It seems obvious to me it is a virus, not congenital, and it happens where no light gets to the hands.
I sat with my hands spread out facing the sun yesterday, and it is 50% better already.
The bubbling has stopped and now I just have to wait for the skin to grow back.
Hi, I also have this problem and mine started about 4 weeks ago after I had the flu injection which in turn reacted with one of the drugs I am on!!! face was swollen, and spots all over body, then the hands started, my doctor thinks it could be a fungal bleeding down the side of the nails, skin that appears to grow really fast and crack, splits at the side of my nails, my hands look horrid, that goodness I am retired!! I have been told to use E45 or a very good over the counter cream, nothing appears to work. I find that what clears up in the night is back in the moring.
what are we lacking inside the body for this kind of reaction...lotion etc can help but would rather fix than cover up)
I think this is what causes my problems. I do a lot of very tiny work. and I noticed that it always starts where I pinch things on my index finger and thumb and spreads from there.
My fingers got better within a few weeks when my doctor prescribed thyroid supplemental medicine. I think I may need the dosage increased because the cracking and peeling has come back full force the past few weeks. It's hard to type sometimes. I try to remember to use gloves to wash dishes, I think a different brand of dishwashing liquid might help, too. It flared up when we changed brands.
Hello, a friend of mine sent me an article that glycerin cream is a new relief that help psoriassis sufferers. I ordered some glysolid and it works for me!! Taking zinc supplements as well also helps. Good luck, we all know what you are going through.
Hello, my name is Darlene. I've too had this problem for about 20 years. I went to two determatogist. The second one I went to did extensive allergy testing. Not the simple one they do on your arm for things like mold. I had the one they did on my back because not only do my hands get bad, but my eyes were swelling shut. I'm allergic to laytex, an ingredient called Quanternium 15,16, or 21 which is found in makeup, hairsprays, and a lot of other products. And my main culprit is Famaldahyde which is found in leather and paper. I cannot wear leather shows without socks, no leather sandles at all or I get a rash on top of my feet. I also work with copier paper at my job everyday and I have no answer for that one. How do I avoid that. I tried wearing cotton gloves. When my hands get real bad, I get a script from my doctor for a steroid pill series. You take it for 12 days and it clears it up. But now I have to go back. I was using a maintenence cream that the pharmacist mixed for me, but that was so many years ago the pharmacist can't find what it was, so I need to find a new cream. I will keep you all posted. My appointment isn't till Sept 8.
I have had a problem with my fingertips peeling for 15 - 20 years and have tried quite a wide variety of creams and ointments, even a couple of prescription ones. Several of them were effective for a few days before the peeling began again; however, I seem to have found the solution to the problem for me in a cream for eczema called Neosporin Eczema Essentials. I started using this cream for an area of eczema on my body a couple of months ago and noticed that my fingertips had cleared up! I use the cream in the morning and again at night but it can be applied throughout the day, as needed, and it isn't greasy so it doesn't make your hands sticky. H
I have the same problem. There is no pain involved....it's like there are bubbles that if I peel, they do not hurt. I'm convinced its stress related, as I've never experienced this before
Hello All,
After suffering from the skin on my hands and feet peeling I eventually found out the cause and now I'm 99% free of the problem.
The problem was caused due to an allergy to wheat and gluten and once I cut down on this the problem went away. It isnt easy to have 100% gluten/wheat free diet but I can manage the problem now.
People with this should get an allergy test done as its not always what you are touching that could be the problem.
i noticed my fingers smell funny after picking my nose and scratching my ass

Sounds like acrodermatitis continua of HALLOPEAU,a rare type of psoriasis pustular .My daughter has it..,she is using corticoides creams, but the recovery is very slow..,
I agree with this post. I get itching, hot feet along with flaking skin and itching toes similar to athletes foot. I don't know were it started first, but it's transferred to my fingertips and groin. After about 4 years of trying different salves and seeking treatment, I've found soaking in Epson salts to be the most effective when the soreness/itching becomes intolerable, and really produces the best gains towards a cured state. I would love to try soaking in the ocean for a couple of weeks, but unfortunately don't live anywhere near that.
Colloidal oatmeal (Aveeno Eczema Therapy moisturizing cream) allows me some relief - I'm trying to avoid the steroid based remedies.
