Why was I born with two different color eyelashes

I was born with blond eyelashes over my left eye and black eyelashes over my right eye. It is very noticable to me so I avoid mackup as this excentuates the fact that they don't match. I have met many people with different color eyes but never any one else with different color eyelashes. What is a good way to deal with this?

Hey i also have got two different colours lashes! I thought i was the only one haha xD
But it doesn't bother me, and if want to conceal it I just put on some mascara ^^
Wow. I had no idea this was a 'thing'. Does anyone know if it has a name? I have blonde eyelashes over my right eye, black over the left. I also have a spot on my upper/inner right arm that won't tan and a white streak in the back of my hair. I was never teased about it, maybe it's not noticeable enough. It was just always the 'unusual trait/party trick' to share. Although it's been annoying (always needing mascara and looking funny in pictures) I've always kind of loved it. It's mine.

Well I am glad I did a search, my two year old daughter has this fabulous trait too. She has blond eyelashes on her right eye and brown on her left. Her hair is blonde now, probably due to the sun, but when she was born she had brown hair with blonde hairlights! It looked very odd on a baby, but we just thought it was special. My son had blonde eyelashes when born but they have gone darker along with his hair, so I assumed my daughters lighter one would do the same. However she still has the difference, and from reading this it sounds like it will stay.
I was worried she had a lazy eye on the blonde side, but did wonder if it was simply the lack of definition on that side, so it is pleasing to hear that others have found this too. I may get it checked out just in case, as a few of you have said that on the blonde side your sight is not as good.
Here's to my little special little angel!

That's too nice i guess...How about if you wear a mascara? may be it cant be notice anymore. Try revitalash mascara.
i am the opposite. i have blond on the RIGHT and black on the LEFT. my vision is perfect, i thought i was alone until i looked it up today. i say it's a gift, it's unique, and i love individuality! check out your vision because some other people with this have problems with it. i was born this way and like i said before, my vision is fine. be proud of yourself. don't agree when people say its weird, its better than weird. i'm 14 years old and in high school, so yes i'm young, but i have my goals straight and don't listen to insults about my wonderfully different eye lashes. i am incorporating my eye lashes in to the book i'm writing!!! look out for it. ;D until then, don't forget me and don't use cosmetics to cover up your gift. :-)

use black mascara?
I am so excited to have found this site! I have been searching for years on the internet as to why I look the way I look. On my left side, I have brown hair, that includes my eyebrows, eyelashes, and nose hair. And on the right side, it's all blonde. I look like two different people fused together. Thanks to the person who posted about incomplete dominance. I did some research and I think what we have is codominance. Incomplete dominance is the blending of two traits that would give you a whole other color. But with codominance, you get both traits. Thanks to all those who wrote in. I have never found anyone else like me but now I know yall are out there.
i've posted before but wanted to add that i've had a baby and he hasn't got the same trait as me, his eyelashes & eyebrows are all same colour as his hair
aha, i have this too! My left eyebrow and eyelashes are blonde, and my right eyebrow and eyelashes are brown. I think it's cool! Try putting white mascara on the left eyelashes and black on the right ones, looks quite good :-P but yeah, be proud of it! it's an awesome thing to have :-)

i have blonde eye lashes to but im 16 and it sure does attract the ladies i think its cool but its been like this ever since i got hit by a car i dont know why its like that but it is.....
My girlfriend has the same thing. She doesn't like it but I think it's the cutest!
I HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEMM..but worse since it also applies to my eyebrows. im a girl..I have dirty blonde hair blue eyes and my left side i have bleach blonde eyelashes and eyebrow and right side dark brown eyelashes and eyebrow. although in my blonde eyebrow about 1/4 of it is brown too. So..i look weird to say least. Ive always been very insecure about it and thought it made me ugly so ever since i was about 16 i dye my blonde eyebrow and wear mascara to cover the blonde side. and once i dyed my eyebrow i looked so different and thoguht it really made a difference. My whole life ive always felt i was delt an unlucky card and envied those who had both sides dark brown lashes and eyebrows... no matter how much people told me it was unique and i should embrace it...and at the same time felt guilty being so concerned with it when im sure people have much worse problems..but it very much lowered my self-confidence until i had it dyed or wore mascara to cover. at one point when i was i think 14-15 when i didn't realise i could dye it, i tried to cover with mascara on my eyebrow and other things which made it turn out all sorts of weird colors and people would be like whats wrong with ur eyebrow for a long time. Least to say it just me feel uglier...i always felt like it was a sort of little secret once i got it all covered and that i was the only one.. but hearing about other people here who have this also makes me feel a bit better and i dont feel so weird now!!! maybe this is first step towards embracing it...THANKS FOR SHARING!!!!
Hi! I just had a baby girl on January 8, 2011. I am noticing her eye lashes on her left eye are brown and her eye lashes on her right eye are blonde. She doesn't have her hair yet and both of her eye brows are light. I had her via the use of fertility treatments and IVF and I am just curious if this played a role in her mismatched coloring. Thanks!
P.S. I've had the best results in making my one black lash eye, and one blond/white lashed eye look the most even by curling them and then using Cover Girl "professional" or "marathon" waterproof mascara in blackest black (it seems to not flake off as quickly as others I have tried, including some pricey department store brands.) I skip the eyeliner and other eye makeup, it just seems to call attention to the lash color being "off." They still won't match totally but if you put a little more on the light side and then comb it through with a dry toothbrush (which I keep just for this purpose) to cover the lash hairs more thoroughly and get off any excess clumps and just use a tad on the ends of the lashes on the dark side (so they don't look mascara free, but I don't load them up, for me at least, this is as good as it gets. (Sorry, I realized later I didn't reply to your original inquiry.)
