Why was I born with two different color eyelashes

I also have a blonde eyelash in my left eye and black in the right. But, my hair is blonde on the left side and dark on the other

How amazing it is to read about others having this too ! My left side is blonde and my right is dark and I also have a streak in my hair from the middle of my forehead. My hair is naturally dirty blonde which changes colour in the sun, some bits going lighter than others. Hardly anyone notices, as I wear mascara and my hair flops over the blonde eyebrows, so I don't point it out. I tried pencilling it in, but to me it looked weird ! No-one I know has this in my family, and none of my children do either. By reading the comments, have you noticed most of us are female? Might be something into that, who knows

hey!! i was born with that as well, except my left eye is half brown and half blonde, as well as my eyebrow, as well as my left eyebrow being higher than my right, i used to hate it growing up, but now it's so beautiful and unique to me. it's just our rare little birthmarks :)

Yes this is exactly the same for me. At first I took it as a birth mark bc i don't have one, but as I have gotten older I have learned different things. I have really blonde hair (almost white in summer) and I have one eyelash/eyebrow (my left) blonde and the others is brown. I have very bad eyesight. I have astigmatism in both eyes but it's only vague in my right eye, so my left is extremely poor. But reading these replies and responses was astonishing to me bc i thought I was the only one. My mom told me that it is called poliosis.

I have this condition! I have brown eye brows and eyelashes on my left and blonde eyebrows and eyelashes on my right. I never really remember noticing until my friends took the mickey at school. I also had a white patch of hair that has gone, and a ginger patch here and there that have got smaller. I used to have very blonde hair but now have brown hair.... I am also getting very long ginger eyebrows on both sides. I joke that my nipple hair also brown on the left and blonde on my right. It is mainly a fun thing but as I am fairly shy I dont like it when somebody spots it in a group setting when I am with people I don't know. My Mum has dark hair and my dad blonde. So ones eyebrows mum ones dad! This condition needs to be given a name... any suggestions?

Same! I have the same eyelashes and the chunks of red in my hair. Can never go without mascara, if I did I’d look like I only did one eye haha. The red, I’ve had a ton of people do my hair to help hide it it’s so bright! No one has ever seen red, only blonde or white. So cool to know someone else is the same :)

Funny to see so many more people have been born with this condition, especially as I too thought I was unique-ish, as I once saw a young girl with the same thing....but only in my 30's. I used to hate it too, thought the blonde eyelashes on my right eye made it look even smaller and weird, as it is the smaller one, especially when I was tired. I've dyed them often, but it doesn't last for long. So I mostly use a good waterproof mascara, and it seems to work if you get to the base of the blonde ones. Mine are white blonde on my right eye dark brown on the left, with a white blonde streak in my right eyebrow and behind my right ear in my hairline. My eyes are green and hair goes golden blonde in the sun, mousey otherwise. Someone called it having been 'kissed by an angel' which helped me to accept my freakiness, and see it as original and cool...though now apparently I'm not so original, but that's cool too :D Do you what would also be cool, if we all met one day!

I’ve read a lot of cases on here where the majority or all of of the eyelash/brow is one solid colour and the other eye doesn’t match. I’m of African American and Hispanic descent and have naturally curly hair that’s black, like many people of my same background. I’m quite confused, though. In my beard, there are two or three BROWN hairs, curly like the rest. They don’t bother me at all and they’re hard to notice unless I point them out to you. A few years ago, I even had one of these brown hairs on my head. About a week ago, I noticed two BLONDE eyelashes in my left eye! There aren’t any in my right eye, my eyebrows, my beard, or on my head. I tugged a bit and they are indeed real, and after showering and even rubbing the lashes, I found they weren’t dyed from anything either. I went through this process with the brown hair in my beard too. Thoughts? Any ideas? I’m interested to see if we have any explanations.

I was born the same way! Totally blonde hair on left side of my head, eyebrows and eyelashes too?!?

Me too! I have different colored eyelashes and 4 colors in my hair although blonde and brown sick out the most. I do have a little black scattered through underneath and a patch of red that’s noticable if I wear my hair back. I would love to know what causes this. My dad had black hair and my mom brown...

i was born with bleach blonde eyelashes on my right eye and dark black eyelashes on my left eye. it bothers me because when i don’t wear makeup it makes my eyes look weird. but i also embrace it because it’s something unique about me!

The same thing with me! My right eye—the blonde one—has poorer vision compared to the darker one. I just dye my elashes on my right side every few weeks because it’s always been a huge insecurity of mine. Eyelash dye and natural looking mascara are my best friends lol
