Red, itchy blotches on body after showering

As soon as I step out of the shower, all these little red bumps and blotches appear on by upper body, especially my upper chest. These bumps are really itchy and cover my arms, chest, and back. I have no idea what is causing this. I have tried switching different shampoos and body washes, thinking I can rule different things out. I have tried no scent shampoos and sensitive skin body wash. What is wrong with me??!!??!!

The same thing happens to me except all over my body especially on my legs. It's happens since middle school and I have asked my regular doctor and dermatologist what it is. The only answer I can find is my family has very sensitive skin and there is nothing I can do to stop it. It not only happens when I shower but when I excrcise, sit in grass, and just when the temperature changes. In those instances it very mild and barely noticeable. It is just something I have learned to live with. For the people telling you it if lice don't listen to them
What type of silent disease?
no chlorine in the water here at all; spring water...still have rash
It's Keratosis Pilaris. I have same problem.
I have had this since I was a kid. I was diagnosed as literally being allergic to hot water. It's called nummular dermatitis. Which means round patches of dry skin. The flareups are always after a shower because of the heat from the water. Dabbing milk on those areas after your shower will help it disappear quicker. Use a non-perfumed lotion like you Eucerin.
I've got the same exact thing you're describing. I literally just read something else online and they suggested that scrubbing the body with hot water washes away natural oils on the skin and that's why we get itchy and red. They suggested to not wash harshly and to not take really long hot showers. Also to use lotion of course. But that's just what I read. So I'm no expert.
They are hives they form because of the heat it happens to me daily, because your skin is sensitive to certain things so your body reacts.
Did you get an answer as my 15 year old is starting to get comments when swimming. But always has rash from the shower too
I am having the same issue but only in winter time i get like it when im down south I dont break out
I've had the same problem for about 5 years. I was convinced it was bed bugs and was very embarrassed of course, but no treatment for bugs worked. I went to my doctor who thought it must be bites. She gave me some emollient creams to use in the shower, which helped. I'm not keen on using petroleum based products so I only used this for a few weeks, but it worked well. My skin is much much better now and I only have one or two bumps rarely. Here's what I'm doing differently: - taking a vitamin c, d and e daily - showering slightly less frequently, where possible - not showering in such hot water - not standing under the hot water for long - using natural, organic products in the shower and on my skin - at the end of every shower, while skin in still wet, gently rubbing vitamin e oil into the affected areas - moisturising whole body regularly - avoiding wearing synthetic fabrics, Cotton is best - patting dry rather than rubbing dry - refraining from scratching at all, even when it itches - lots of water, lots of sleep and relaxing if stressed My overall feeling is that we shower too much and too hot, and use harsh soaps that dry the skin out and reduce its natural protective barrier oils. I've tried to replenish these oils and it's really helped. I've also used a mild steroid cream to treat the eczema that I get after the hives.  ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** web addresses not allowed*** Please read our Terms of Use
ME TOO I don't understand
I drink 96oz of water every day and still get the skin problems. Clearly this isn't the only solution.
Actually vit c filters are the best and safest as of 2016 it says
I think the answer lies in the heat of the water. Turn the temperature down for your next shower and see what happens.
I'm 17 and I think I've had this problem for about 2 months now. It does however seem that when I get a bath they don't appear much or not at all! I mainly get them on my face and on my shoulder area.
